The Old East Village Grocer occupies the front of the building, filling the need for a full supermarket in an area identified as a food desert in one academic study.
Keep walking to the back of the grocery store, you enter an area where preserves are being bottled, coffee beans are processed, gluten-free and vegan food is being prepared and breakfasts for Meals on Wheels are being packaged.
The incubator is housed in a historic industrial building once occupied by the O-Pee-Chee gum company.
